The private stone and brick faced Oratorio at La Preghiera is bright in daylight with its domed pastel cream and pietra serena stone finish. At night, illuminated by candle light from the ancient brass wall sconces and silver candelabra a cosy, welcoming and magical effect is created. Ocassionally an a cappella choir sings here or a harpist comes to play and the chapel comes alive with music…

Follow along a wide gravel path lined with banks of lavender and rosemary to reach the entrance of the chapel, passing through old oak doors framed by a grey stone surround with rambling rose bushes on either side…
It is a perfect location for a wedding ceremony, baptism or renewal of vows. Legal religious ceremonies for weddings can be held in the chapel followed by a reception in the gardens or inside the old monastery afterwards.
Alternatively, the chapel is often used for blessing ceremonies or simply as a beautiful space to gather together friends and family to share an initimate exchange of vows or promises.
It is probably the fourth religious building on this site and archeological discoveries point to the possibility of an original Roman temple dedicated to the Spirits of the Water as the foundations of the existing chapel.

The decoration is simple and elegant, with the furniture and other items from various countries around the world carefully chosen, each with its own interesting history and provenance.
